fasting.... walking with God
i'm not sure how many people are gonna be fasting and praying for the citywide renewal conference tom'w. this morning i was walking to the mtr as per my normal morning thang... i was just lost in thought over God's plan for me, my friends, the vine, the city, the nation, the world? i've never had a question about the minutae that is representative of me and my li'l sphere of 'influence'.... but last nite as i was playin round w/friendster li'l bits of revelation formed in my li'l pea brain. friendster really highlights the concept of 6 degrees of separation. i can click on random friends of friends of friends, and more often than not, even thru my limited network, i'd always find that a friend of a friend of a friend (never more than 3 degrees tho!) - would always pop up. i was doing this random thing, starting out w/the friends a friend of this classmate of mine from bschool, and just randomly clicking on names of whom i had no clue... mind u, this classmate has absolutely no connection to anything in hk... after 3-4 clicks, i was led to one dude that popped up as linked to all these hongkie friends of mine... so i 'added' him, and sure enuf, it was an ooooollllllddddd buddy from my club in hk (crc).... amazing, huh?
so what's the point? the point is that we can never know how far reaching our sphere of influence can reach. God uses us in the same way... never really allowing us to see the promise land, but always there to reassure His promise to us. with that promise firmly grasped in hand (and mind and spirit and soul and strength) - i am led to share that with the rest of 'my world'. from there, His Word has the potential to spread like wildfire. i mean - how and why else would a body of believers in hk be so psyched about a citywide renewal? i, for one, refuse to live vicariously thru the accomplishments of others. yeah - i'll surely praise God for the mighty works done through others, but that's not gonna earn me my crown. there's nothing wrong with high aspirations... i know many are feeling the call to a Higher purpose - and definitely the talents of those many are needed to achieve the corporate vision. whether i go to the conference or not, it's become clear that there is no time for talk talk talk, but time to step up and assume the responsibilities that come with His visions. be bold. step out and speak what the Lord has put into your heart. don't shy away from the knowledge that YOU are just as important as anyone else in the battle. the apostle paul says "i have become all things to all men that i might by all means save some". that some can turn to many thru God. that said tho, it's like uncle joe says/sings, this is not about me... absolutely - not me, or the things i do, or say... it's about God - and the things He does, or says. when it's all said and done, there's only one thing to be sought after, and that's the judgement of God when u'r sitting in His throneroom.... "well done, my good and faithful servant..."
*sigh*... back to fasting, staring at people eat munchies, all the while praying for lives and life. oh yeah... and work too!
